Music and storytelling cross paths in ways that often change our lives. British producer, songwriter and author, autolemy expertly weaves a carefully chosen pastiche of musical influences and multi-genres; giving a nod to electro, pop, disco-funk, classical and experimental sound.
Originally from Essex but now residing in London, he spent his early teenage years developing a passion for mixing and remixing with whatever rudimentary equipment he could get his hands on. Obsessively crafting his skills on a daily basis, autolemy found early success selling monthly remix tapes in the local record store... often selling out in hours and never being able to satisfy the demand. Having taken this model from the legendary Disco Mix Club (DMC) record label, he submitted an audition and was inducted into the DMC collective to complete his first mix with a school friend at just eighteen years of age.
Fast forward to 2020, with Covid-19 sending the world into disarray and with a computer for company, autolemy set about the ultimate challenge – to write a combined album and fictional novel at the same time! Now complete, Say Goodbye combines fifteen original works, six instrumentals and a three-hundred page novel.
Set in the late 1970’s and the first instalment of a planned trilogy; the story follows a young seven year old by the name of ‘Lee Walker’. A mischievous sort, Lee discovers his mother’s infidelity leading to a devastating series of events that see his family tear apart and the young boy cast aside. Having decided to runaway, Lee’s adventure transports him to France, where he must rely on his survival instincts to stay alive. His journey takes a twist when he has an unexpected encounter in the strange world of KGB operatives, secret underworlds, and MI6... with which he has an extraordinary connection.
Defining the role of a modern producer, autolemy has written and arranged each track to capture his many different influences; differentiating each song from one another to allow each track to have a moment of its own on the album. Influences such as Art of Noise, Tangerine Dream, Kool & The Gang, Booty Luv, Vangelis, Ralph Vaughan Williams, original house and break beats echo throughout his sound.
